Get started with the updated Google Maps app
The Google Maps app has been updated to help you access features faster.
We've removed the Menu Menu. You can now access features that were under Menu Menu through the bottom tabs on the Home screen and Account Circle Account Circle on the upper right hand corner.
When you open the Google Maps app, you'll find 5 tabs at the bottom of the Home Screen:
Explore Explore: Choose where to go.
Commute Commute: What to expect along your daily commute.
Saved Save place: Create lists and recall places.
Contribute Contribute: Share experiences, add info and reviews, and fix problems.
Updates Updates: Get notifications for relevant information.
Important: In select cities, you'll find Go Go instead of Commute Commute in your Google Maps app.
Features like Location Sharing, Timeline and offline maps are available in the Account Circle Account Circle in the top right.
How to use Google Maps
Use Google Maps on your computer, phone, or tablet to search, explore, and find your way around the world. On your computer, open Google Maps. On your phone or tablet, use the Google Maps app.

Type less by setting your home and work addresses. And then shorten your commute by getting the fastest route.

Get info about a place
Find a place on the map and get directions. Or get info like business hours and menus, and find Street View imagery.

Get directions and start navigation
Important: In select cities, you'll find Go Go instead of Commute Commute in your Google Maps app.

Note: On a phone or tablet, you can get travel times and directions to places you might go next, like your home, job, or calendar appointments. At the bottom of your map, tap Commute Commute. Then scroll through the options that appear.

There are lots of ways to use Google Maps on your computer, phone, or tablet. Here are some things you can do.
Note: Not all features are available in all regions.
Find search results
Look for a place or type of places, find recent searches, or get directions. You'll find search results as red mini-pins and red dots, where mini-pins show the top results. To find more information, get directions, or find inside a business, click or tap any result.
Explore the map
On your computer, click anywhere on the map to get details about a place. On your phone or tablet, touch and hold anywhere on the map to get details about a place.
Measure distances between points
You can measure distances between two points.

Find traffic, transit, biking, terrain, and COVID-19 related info
You can find more information about travel routes, traffic, the landscape, or COVID-19.
On your mobile device, open Google Maps Google Maps. At the top, tap Layers Layers and then pick an option.
On your computer, open Google Maps, click Menu Google Play Store Menu Icon. Then, select an option from the list.
Find the world in 3D
To find 3D Earth view on your computer, go to the bottom left and click the square.
Find Street View
If Street View images are available, you'll find a Street View thumbnail when you choose a place on the map.

Move the map
To find more details on the map, zoom in or out. On your mobile device, you can use gestures like rotate, tilt, and zoom to quickly move through the Google Maps app.

Find your current location
To search for places around you and get directions more quickly, center the map on your current location.

Tip: You can find traffic info, public transit options and local places of interest in just a few seconds. Learn more about nearby places and travel.
Rate and review places
Share your opinion about the places you visit with reviews and ratings.

Download areas and navigate offline
If you're going where the Internet is slow, mobile data is expensive, or you can't get online, you can save an area from Google Maps to your phone or tablet and use it when you're offline.
Note: Downloading offline maps isn't available in some regions because of contractual limitations, language support, address formats, or other reasons.
Step 1: Download a map
Note: You can save maps on your device or an SD card. If you change the way you save maps, you’ll have to download the map again.
Find and improve your location’s accuracy
Sometimes Google Maps might have trouble finding where you are located. If the GPS location of your blue dot on the map is inaccurate or the blue dot is not showing up, here are some things you can do to help fix the problem.
Tip: This will also improve your search results and make them more relevant to you.

Write reviews and add ratings of places
On Google Maps, you can write reviews for places you’ve visited. You can also leave info about a place, like if it’s quiet, lively, or romantic. These reviews and opinions are voluntary. We don’t pay reviewers for adding them to Google Maps.
What others will see
All reviews are public, so anyone can see what you write. You can’t add an anonymous review.

Notes:
On your computer, open Google Maps and make sure you're signed in.
Search for a place.
On the left, scroll down and click Write a review.
In the window that appears, click the stars to score the place. You can also write a review.
Your review will be visible in Google Maps until you take it down. After your review is published, you can edit what you wrote, or change the rating and pictures you included.
