BHADRAJ TEMPLE
Dedicated to Lord Bala Bhadra, (Balarama) - Elder Brother of Lord Shri Krishna.

The temple offers a panoramic view of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

Lord Balaram's Temple

 

According to the Puranas, Bhadraj is said to be the elder brother of Lord Krishna, Balarama, who has been worshiped in this temple for hundreds of years.

 

Mythology

 

  • According to folk beliefs, Lord Balarama came here in the guise of a sage in the golden age. At that time people's animals had suffered a lot due to serious disease, then the people here went to Sadhu Baba after which all the animals got cured. After some time when Sadhu Baba started going from here to Kedar Khand, the people here requested him not to go from here, then Baba agreed and decided to stay at this place. Then Sadhu Baba had said at the same time that in Kali Yuga, I would be worshiped in the form of an idol in the name of Bhadraj.
  • Milk, curd, butter, flour bread etc. are prominent in the offerings in Lord Bhadraj temple. All kinds of intoxicants and meat, fish are completely prohibited in the temple.

 

Bhadraj Fair (16-17 August)

 

May Sankranti every year and The fair which is held on 16th or 17th August is also now known as Bhadraj fair. Where people come from far-flung areas and also from the country and abroad.

 

Bhadraj Trekking

 

Route: One

 

1. Library End - Dudhli (7 km / 3-4 hrs) Trek starts from Library End in Mussoorie, trekking route to Cloud End covering a distance of about 5.5 km from Library End, Victorian style from Library End Passes through beautiful buildings. After reaching Clouds End you will proceed towards Dudli which is also known as The Milkman Village. Dudli village provides milk to the city of Mussoorie, hence the name The Milkman Village. The scenic view from Dudhli is mesmerizing. You can go camping in Dudli and start your journey the next morning towards Bhadraraj Temple.

 

Day 2: Dudli - Bhadraraj Temple - Clouds End - (16km) Morning trekking from Dudli will take you around 3 hours to reach Bhadraraj Temple. Its steep climb path is a bit tiring. You can leave for Clouds End on the same day.

 



 

Second Trekking Route

 

  • To reach Bhadraj temple, you have to cover a distance of about 15 kilometers from the Dudhli route,
  • This distance can be covered by motorcycle, car, or even on foot.
  • From Vikasnagar to Katapathar - Hathyari - Matogi 11 km can be reached by car or you can also take a car from Sahaspur to Langa and Matogi.

 

  • After that, there is a trekking route of about 4 km from Matogi. to the Bhadraj Temple.

 

Third Trekking Route

 

7.5 km from Koti village - This route is considered the most complicated or most challenging for trekking, it is a very steep climb route, which starts from Koti village, water is not available anywhere in the entire route.
